Why cats want them
Cats eat grass. Indoor cats with no grass to reach go for houseplants instead, and a lot of common houseplants are dangerous to cats. Lilies in particular can kill them. Giving your cat something safe to chew is the straightforward fix.
The hairball bit
Grass is fibre, and fibre helps move swallowed hair through the gut instead of it coming back up. Long-haired cats and heavy groomers benefit most. It's a help, not a cure. A cat bringing up hairballs often enough to worry you needs a vet, not a treat.
The fish oil bit
Omega-3 is good for skin and coat. There's only so much of it in a treat, so treat it as a bonus rather than a supplement. If your cat has a real coat problem, you want a proper oil.
How to give them
One or two a day is plenty. Keep treats under about 10% of daily food so the rest of the diet stays balanced. Fresh water nearby. Reseal the bag.
