Why each part is there
- Small nipple, slow flow. Sized for a kitten's mouth. A human baby bottle floods them, and milk going down the wrong way is the real danger at this age.
- The spares aren't filler. Silicone softens, splits, and the hole widens with use. At three-hourly feeds you don't want to discover that at 4am with no backup.
- The brush reaches the bottom. Milk residue sets in the neck of the bottle where a cloth can't get to it. That's where bacteria build up between feeds.
Before the first feed
Kittens can't digest cow's milk and it will give them diarrhoea. Use a kitten milk replacer. Feed belly-down, never on their back like a human baby. Newborns need feeding every two to three hours, including overnight.
Markings on the bottle let you see how much actually went in, which is the only way to tell whether a kitten is feeding properly.
